it's been 10 years since Mob Skateboards (formerly Hessenmob) was born on the streets of Germany, and to celebrate they have put out 4 new decks by their favourite artists - Stefan Marx, Andy Jenkins, Flying Fortress, and me. Above you can see team rider Danny Sommerfeld with Stefan's design, with mine in the background. The Stefan Marx board is going up on my wall, it's amazing! see all the graphics here: http://mob-skateboards.com/ I stole the photo from Stefan's blog. St Pauli gets a New Year boot in the ass with this fine show of prints, courtesy of Vicious Gallery. I'll be showing my classic "Baptism Of Jesus Christ" lino print, specially re-printed in an edition of 10 on a nice, quality paper (instead of the crappy brown parcel paper it was originally printed on, as an un-limited edition) Opening party is on 30th January. http://www.viciousgallery.com/
Wondering what to give as a Valentines Day gift this year? Well here's the perfect solution. I've produced this new lino print, titled "Love You", to take the hassle out of shopping, giving you more time for love! The first image is a two colour lino print, only available directly from me. It measures 22 cms x 21 cms, is a signed and numbered edition of only 20, printed on 220 gram paper, and is just 25 Euros (plus 5 Euros shipping) That's cheaper than a meal in a fancy restaurant, and it'll last a whole lot longer than a bunch of flowers! Want one? Drop me an email: davethechimp@gmail.com The bottom image is a special edition version, printed one colour, on 300 gram Hahnmühle watercolour paper, then hand-coloured, so each is a one-off. Some are darker, some lighter, some more textured. Made in an edition of just 10, these will only be available from Nelly Duff on Columbia Road, east London, from the last weekend in January. I love lino prints. For me, the beauty of lino prints is that, even though the design on each print is the same, the texture of the print varies, so that no two are identical. In this age of perfect digital prints made by robots, it's nice to see the human hand involved. Or, in this case, the ape's paw, as all of these are hand-pressed by yours truly! My back is aching, but it's that healthy feeling of having done some "proper work". My Dad would be proud ;-)
my friend Charles, honorary 243 Frenchman, just sent me this link to the trailer of his flatmate's skate video they got nice spots and a nice relaxed flowy style in Bordeaux, so it's worth checking out http://kingpinskateboarding.com/blog/minuit-trailer.html I Like this project by Santiago Sierra. And look at this cheeky fella trying to get in on the action!
